Our veterans need our help!
Courageous men and women have volunteered to serve our country to protect and preserve our way of life. Many have suffered injuries, both physical and mental. It's now our turn and opportunity to help so many of these veterans assimilate back into the society that they have sworn to protect. They need good housing, a job to support themselves and perhaps re-education to acquire a better job or advance their career.
With your help we can begin to make all of this possible!
Ten men and a woman in a nurses uniform walk in to a bar .......
This is a true story..... one morning ten veterans and a person from the American Medical Association walked into Chicago's newest ping pong social club, SPiN. It turns out that the woman in white had donated her silent auction prize of a ten person outing at SPiN to a group of veteran's from the Jesse Brown VA Center in the West Loop. Centre court was their home for unlimited ping pong! She even bought lunch for the crew!
While they were there, SPiN coach Phil Moy was working on Mark Kaplan's ping pong game. Veteran Jason Ferguson (USMC) and a few others came over to see what was going on. Phil gave them a half hour ping pong lesson to round out their outing at SPiN.
Out of the ensuing conversation about things being done for veterans and how ping pong at the Jesse Brown Center was a low priority, the seeds of having a tournament for other veterans who were ping pong fans were sown. SPiN management was approached with the idea, and agreed to donate the facility for a day for a ping pong tournament for veterans.
The rest is up to you!
Let's pay it forward and treat a bunch of veterans to a whole day of ping pong and spawn a whole new series of efforts to support our veterans! There are different ways to give, through sponsorship, through donations on GoFundMe, by volunteering or coming to watch the tournament! Bring the family!
See you on Nov. 13th, play some pong, come and thank our veterans personally, meet some great people, make some new friends and have a ball!
